ZPMC Partners with CM Labs to Develop Training Simulators for Remote Desk-Controlled STS Cranes

Montreal, QC, May 3, 2018 — CM Labs Simulations Inc., the leading global port crane simulation-based training solution provider, announced today that it has cooperated with ZPMC on developing simulation-based operator training for its remote desk-controlled ship-to-shore (STS) cranes. The first client for this innovative new training product will be the Ports of Auckland in New Zealand.

CM Labs was selected based on the company’s unrivalled track record of developing effective, high-fidelity, custom-built simulation-based training solutions. With clients on six continents, CM Labs is the leading provider of both off-the-shelf and made-to-order operator training simulator solutions that accurately replicate the feel and behaviour of port equipment in their unique environment.

ZPMC is the world’s largest manufacturer of cranes and large steel structures, with a high global market share for the international STS port crane market. CM Labs’ Vortex® simulator will integrate ZPMC’s actual remote control system. This will expose trainees to crane operations and the control room environment just like real operations. This includes the simulation of all crane functions, camera displays, automated safety functions, as well as the terminal’s container management system.
